FFA to the rescue
A few weeks ago, Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on the East Coast, rendering many in need of all kinds of assistance. If your FFA chapter, association or alumni group would like to assist in raising funds, scheduling food drives, volunteering, giving blood or collecting clothing, we have compiled a list of various organizations that would be grateful for your help. Please feel free to access the list at this link: http://www.ffa.org/disasteroutreach. Thank you for your assistance in helping those in need!

Revised FFA privacy policy now available

Check out these grants to help fight hunger
Through the FFA: Food For All grant program, chapters may apply for up to $2,500 to support year-long service-learning projects focused on developing and implementing sustainable hunger programs. Applications are due Dec. 10. Visit the FFA: Food For All webpage for additional information and the application. FFA: Food For All Grants are sponsored by Farmers Feeding the World and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.

Let’s hear it for FFA Alumni!
The National FFA Alumni Association was busy during the 85th National FFA Convention & Expo. A whopping 4,000 FFA members attended the FFA Dance, brought to you by FFA Alumni. Other dance highlights included a live performance from former FFA member Levi Riggs and a surprise guest appearance by the “We’re Farming and We Grow It!” Peterson Brothers (see dance photos here ). The association also promoted its free five-year membership for graduating seniors, and the FFA Alumni Tailgate and Benefit Auction raised more than $63,000. Want to learn more about FFA Alumni? Local farm bureau’s raise funds for “Blue Jacket Bonanza”
Purchasing official blue corduroy jackets for FFA members who might otherwise only dream of owning one was the goal of the Santa Barbara County (Calif.) Farm Bureau. Their “Blue Jacket Bonanza” fundraiser made that goal a reality! In its first year, the SBCFB raised $18,000 to buy blue jackets for FFA members who applied to the program. The successful program is now being expanded. FFA advisors are encouraged to contact their local farm bureau to learn about the program; click here for more information.
