Hay producers will get industry info at upcoming “field day”

CASPER, Wyo. – An upcoming “field day” will provide Wyoming hay producers with information designed to help them improve the quality and quantity of their forage crops.

The Wyoming Forage Field Day will be held June 28 at Mile High Ranch located at 36 Mile High Road in Riverton, Wyo.  Registration is free and includes a barbeque lunch.  RSVPs are requested.

The event will feature presentations on fertigation and test plots by Wyoming Ag Marketing; forage variety selection and management practices by Dr. Anowar Islam from the University of Wyoming; hay marketing opportunities and new potential Wyoming hay markets; local machinery dealership equipment and product line demonstrations from Brown Company and Greenline Equipment; soil analysis and fertility discussions; and irrigation practices.

“Wyoming’s number one agronomic crop is hay, so it behooves us to help Wyoming hay producers strive for more and better quality hay,” said Donn Randall, Crop and Forage Program manager in the Business Council’s Agribusiness Division.  “We want to provide information for our local producers because it such a huge enterprise for the state.”
